Merlin and Arthur.

While I work I like watching series, and simple ones. Adventure, magic and friendship. I guess, I could have been watching anime, something like “One Piece”. Lately though, I’ve mostly been on Netflix. When Merlin popped up, I thought… Why not? It is not the best, but it is such an easy watch.

Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly

I went to see Madama Butterfly with an awesome friend I made recently. I thought it was absolutely awesome. I loved the set and the perspective it took to make the theater look massive. The songs were nice, the atmosphere was very Japanese and I think the shadows projected here and there made the piece magical. What was weird was the Japanese set, the English speaking actors but everyone sang in Italian x) Anyways it was awesome! I just wanted to draw something to remind me of how awesome it was! ^_^

CGI Animations #4 MonsterBox

I’ve seen that animation a while ago, but I loved it so much I felt it was important to mention it in a review up here.

The animation I’m reviewing is “MonsterBox” by Ludo Gavillet. Now, I’m sure my love from this animation is just because of my childhood. Everyone’s childhood differs but mine involved a lot of tree climbing, beaches and tropical suns. I grew up in a beautiful tropical island; the colors are very bright and vibrant there. The animation I’m about to talk about involves those atmospheres I grew up in. I do not only relate to it with the mood created but I also feel connected to the characters in some way.

When growing up my parents encouraged me to have many different pets: I’ve had dogs, rabbits, hamsters, fish, turtles, and birds. Every time I would find a stray animal I would take it home and my parents would find a way to give it away to nice people and find a good home for each of them. I swear, my parents have seen it all. I’ve brought puppies, cats, kittens, dogs and baby bats whenever I found them struggling on the streets. The monsters from the animations make me think of all those stray animals my parents took care of.

And that is not all. The old man in the animation makes me think of my dad. My Dad loves planting, knows practically everything about every plants. He has all the books, all the different seeds and the different tools. I think that if he had all the time in the world on his hands he would just spend it all in the garden.

I guess it is pretty obvious to know how much I like this animation, the character designs are perfect in my opinion. The mood and atmosphere created is beautiful and make me want to go back to the old days.

On the technical side, I think that the animations are fluid and natural. The environment created is unique but still looks beautiful and matches the characters. The sound effects and lighting are great, everything is well synchronized- Adds to its beauty. The story is original and quite simple, I’m not sure about the little monsters’ design but the textures are all so smooth, it goes quite nicely. I do like the character’s relationship too. The animation has no dialogue and I thought that the relationships and feelings were well expressed through the body language and facial expressions. They show the great generation gap and also that both main characters do care for each other and I find that lovely. There is a slight humor at times which is focused on the 2 personalities present in the animation, there is no exaggeration and it feels realistic.

MonsterBox is a real “Feel Good animation”- It is perfect for an audience of all ages, it is calm and enjoyable (The music matches the animation too). So I definitely recommend it to everybody.

CGI Animation #2 Memorize

Alright. Here it goes. Another Review.

Since I am also studying a bit on Special effects I thought I’d talk about special effects a bit. WOO! Right?- [I’ll upload my projects later relating to this and may be my experiences in the animation classes.]

Anyways,This review is about a Short Film, I loved it [even if it only lasted 7 minutes]. The Camera angles varied and were in the right places every time to make the animations look credible. The environments picked and created are perfect to match the “Futuristic” Feel. The actors are pretty good too, so the special effects were great. Please let me comment on the outfits. Please, Please. Yes! I think the main Character’s outfit ROCKS. I really like it. Might even do a FanArt thing on this main character. I’m just putting it out there.

They paid amazing attention to detail and I loved the “video game” type of feel it gives off [without exaggeration]. The main character is also appealing to guys and girls- What I’m trying to say is: they know how to catch their audience. The animations are simple and yet I would have liked more action with a longer Film/Movie. I just wished they dug deeper into the story, made the concept way heavier than what it is. Anyways, watch it! I’m leaving the link below.

P.S: If you are like my Jarvis who likes watching his things in HD or its a NO-NO. Then you’ll be delighted.

CGI Animations #1 Contre Temps.

Well, recently I have been watching as many different animations as possible. I want to see them all! Understand them all and see the things that are possible to create. I’ve seen great ones, strange ones, amazing ones and some that I would like to recommend to my friends. I thought! Wow! Here is a great idea. There are many creations out there that have to be discovered and if I ever find them, I better share it on my Blog. Isn’t that what its here for? Gathering ideas, Sharing discoveries and at the same time I am sure that I’m sharing it with the right people because you guys have the same sort of interest in animation and Art (If you found this blog).

Better put my opinion out there.

The Short I want to talk about today is “Contre Temps”; as the title suggests it is a French animation with a fascinating atmosphere. The idea was simple and yet I was captured in the 8 minutes long animation. The personality of the 2 different characters are very convincing and  intriguing [I especially love the slight comedy they added to the man’s character]. I was very impressed to see the relationship between the 2 main characters of the animation evolve during those few minutes. The animators did a wonderful job.

The music was great and sound effects matched the animation perfectly. The colors are calming, with gentle and flowing movements. Personally I do not really like clocks, their ticking stresses me out but the animation was so lovely I managed to put my feelings for clocks aside. [Just like the main character did to save the little girl’s life.]- Its a great animation. Go watch it!

A girly review on League of Legends.

League of Legends, a.k.a LoL is a multiplayer online game. People often compare it to Dota/Prime world and from what I remember there are 4 different maps in the menu offering different game plays, strategies and tactics as a team or solo (referring to ARAM)+ Dominion.

With a good team the game can bring great adrenaline rush, exciting/happy/hilarious times or even dreadful ones(When your friends let you down). I sort of think that 60% of the time I got put in difficult teams where they were refusing to cooperate, which lead to countless defeats. But 40% of the time I got encouraged by great players and good teams leading to amazing rewarding victories.

I personally find that the game gets boring. If you do not play often/competitively or study the details of the game it is difficult to keep up, and with the pressure that your teammates sometimes put on you- The game becomes no fun at all. You will find yourself playing the same match over and over again. There is not a great number of page runes, and having an intricate build for each of your favorite character is intense- If you love playing adc you will always be in the bottom lane, if you love playing mid you will always be mid. If there is a character you are attached to and the team doesn’t want you to play with it then it is hard to adapt (when you do not play night and day). You either give it all of your lifetime or nothing at all.

After reading all this you might think that I hate the game. It is not like that at all. I actually enjoy playing LoL a lot. When I have enough friends to create a team, and once we have agreed on our strategy and role, the game grows and gets to another level. I give it my all. When I play during the week, when everyone just happens to be busy I tend to prefer teaming up with PP on custom matches against AI/bots. It is very relaxing. The only disadvantage is not getting any money or experience which gets you nowhere. So, you are forced to play PVP, against and sometimes with unknown and unpleasant gamers. Custom games VS AI/bots also means victory and no challenges- easy game, boring game, no rewards. I just play it to relax.

What I love about LoL at 100% is the music, the artwork, the designs, story and animation in the whole game. I love the relationship between the champions and the details in their personal background story as well as their personality and accurate statistics. With all the work they put in the character design and music as well as animation, I strongly feel that they should consider including an adventure game where it is not competitive. What I actually mean is to have an interactive adventure mmorpg where the gamer lives the story of each character. Players could collect achievements and gain experience with that, we also get the choice: Competitive or cooperative adventure game.

Now, moving on to favorite things:

Favorite champion:

Now, when I first started playing the game my favorite character was LeBlanc, she was free on the week I had started playing- but now I tend to focus on ADC. My current favorites are Vayne, Irelia and Jinx. If I find myself in a position where I have to use a support my favorite is definitely Lulu.

My favorite skin?

Lulu_3I love the foreshortening, the magical feel and how they captured the personality of cute little sorceress lulu.

My favorite animated log in is hard to choose, but I will go with my recent favorites. Like Jinx and the summer log in screens. This also includes the music:

My favorite map is the 5×5 summoners rift and 3×3 twisted tree line.

My favorite offensive item: Blade of the ruined king. Favorite defensive item: Guardian Angel. Item I cannot live without: BOOTS!

My favorite buff: Wild growth

I am kind of tired so ¬_¬ I would like to go take a nap if possible…

Basically, I will keep playing this game from time to time with PP and I will stop giving him a hard time, I will look forward to the new character designs. Ciao-su!

[Day 8 Apicaday challenge]- :D

I’m so excited, and I’m trying my best to hide it. I can’t wait to install it, but laziness is also taking over me. I couldn’t take more “exciting pictures”, forgot the camera at home.. derp. hehehe… but I realized that a lot of the followers tend to prefer drawings! This picture will give you excitement too right?- means more drawings are on their way! ;D

My first impression of the bamboo tablet is simple: For the price, this tablet is EPIC. I have tried the trust tablets before and it is not as flexible as the bamboo tablet, the drawings come out better, its perfect for artists who like sketching or digital paintings :)!!

My Doctor

Doctor Who?!

Okay, I would not call myself “The Biggest fan” but quite simply just a fan. (I have not watched every single episode, therefore I cannot really call myself anything else)- But I really enjoyed every episode I have watched so far and most of them had Matt Smith in them.

Yes, I started watching Doctor Who, from where Matt Smith appears as him and likes custard and fish fingers.

Though I have tried watching the other Doctors, I always ended up saying that Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor. Soooo, I got pretty sad when I heard that he was leaving. I do understand that keeping up the same role is tough, and varying your characters makes your career more lively and fun. (Go for it Matt!)

Now, I wonder if it really is okay to “review” the Doctor who series since I’m not THE “number one fan”- I guess it is okay to admit that it was one of the best things I ever watched. It is something worth watching, worth your time, and who ever watches it shall never get bored. Full of surprises and humor, a little bit scary at times (weeping angels gave me nightmares T_T) But yeah! It is a great series, and I wonder if it will go on forever.

Anyway recently, I have been wondering how people do portraits or cool watercolor style paintings with Coffee and water only. It got me curious, and because I have been thinking about Doctor Who and Matt smith, I thought that I ought to try. Here it is;

Oh! Because I happen to be studying animation, I feel like I also have to speak about the special effects done in Doctor Who. I cannot really point anything out. At the time, I was not involved with CGI or Green screens yet. I was fooled by everything, I guess that sort of proves that it has good special effects and great sculptors, right?
